You already know the benefits of a spray tan but we thought you might like to know more about the spray tan products we use here at The Waxing Studio.
Fake Bake is the UK’s leading salon professional self tan and spray tan brand. We love this product because of it’s ease of application, brilliant results and anti ageing, anti cellulite and anti oxidants properties! We love it so much, we use it ourselves, regularly spray tanning each other in the studio to keep out tans looking fresh. The clever ingredients used in Fake Bake give an instant sun-kissed colour which develops into a long-lasting tan. In fact, the tanning agents used in Fake Bake tanning products (DHA and Erythulose) create a longer lasting (up to 50%), more natural-looking tan. Good news for those that want to avoid the dreaded Oompa Loompa orange look!
As with all fake and spray tan products there are some simple rules to follow to get the best results from your Fake Bake tan.
You must have a patch test a minimum of 24 hours before. It’s recommended that you don’t use any other tanning product for a week before your spray tan. Any shaving or waxing must be done at least 24 hours prior to your application and i’s advised tate no make-up, deodrants, perfumes or lotions are worn on the day of your spary tan to avoid any reaction with the tanning agents.
Our expert tanning therapists will give you some sticky soles to wear on the bottom of your feet to stop them from discolouring. Next we’ll use a lotion on your boney bits – your elbows, the tops of your feet, hands and knees so that the tan blends properly into those notoriously tricky places. The spray application will done within 10 minutes. A few a minutes of leaving the tan to asorb into your skin, you’ll be good to dress (in loose clothing) and go!
In some ways, this is the most important bit. You’ve prepared your skin for the spray tan, gone without make-up on the day of application – surely you want it to last?!
After a Fake Bake spary tan you should avoid tight, light coloured clothes and keep your skin completely dry. Do not use any other creams, moisturisers or lotions whilst the tan develops and avoid other hair or beauty treatments and activities that may make you sweat. Toothpaste and hot drinks may strip the colour from the skin around your mouth – it’s best to avoid them whist your tan is developing.
The following day, or a least 8 hours after your spray tan, rinse the remaining colour residue in a warm shower until the water runs clear. Avoid toiletries containing alpha hydroxy acids as they can strip colour. Similarly, chlorine may fade your tan so avoid swimming pools.
To prolong your tan use accompanying Fake Bake moisturusers and exfoliants. Even when your spray tan begins to fade, you want your skin tone to look even – body polishes and exfoliants will help acheive this.
